Gangsta Culture Expanded

As I read the "Gangsta Culture" article  I was able to relate to the article a bit. The "gangsta" life is glorified in music so men who live in the "ghetto" want to pursue a life of crime. To see thte fancy cars drive the neighborhood and to see the gangstas with the so called "ice" and nice clothes is ery envious. Its a quick means of money and a "good life".Black men in society think that they have to stoop to a live of illegal crime to make a quick dollar. Many of the men who choose this way of life are smart and often times learn to play the system very well. And can also manage to get caught. I feel that since some black men cant be the rappers that they see on tv that they choose to make their money this way. Although some turn to the "gangsta life" as a means of survival others are in it for the lifestyle. Just to ride in the fancy cars and to wear the nice jewlery. A lot of black men are behind bars because of the what it signifies. To go to jail means to be a thug. To go to jail almost means to have earned your stripes in black society. The life of a gangsta signifies money cash and clothes. Which is looked at by some as a good thing.

Advertisement Cont'd

Why have you chosen this advertisement?: I chose this advertisement because I feel it is a great picture to show how women can be objectified.

What is being sold?: This advertisement is for the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

Who is responsible for the product?: Hard Rock Hotel and Casino

What do you see going on in the advertisement?: The man is looking at the women tempted to be sexual with her. The ad makes it seem as though he is already in some sort of relationship because it states that there's always temptation to cheat.

How does the advertisement objectify one or two participants?: This ad objectifies women because she is almost naked and it suggests that because she is naked that the man is wanting to be sexual with her.

Who is the target demographic? I would say that the target demographic would be ages 21 to 40, because it is at 21 that men and women are able to actually go to the casino and gamble, and also because some men and women are in either a relationship or married with that age group. They may be tempted or thinking about cheating.

Race: Mostly Caucasian.

Gender: This ad could actually apply to both men and women.

Politics: Doesn't apply.

Religion: Doesn't apply.

Education: College or higher

Location: I would say on the West Coast.

Sexual Orientation: Hetero Sexual

Social Class: Middle Class and up.

Marital Status: Single and Married

Occupation: Doesnt apply.

Advertisement Proposal

Why have you chosen this advertisement? I chose this advertisement because I felt like it would be the easiest advertisement to explain.

What is being sold? Beer

Who is responsible for the product? Budweiser

What do you see going on in the advertisement? The woman is using seduction to sell the product

How does the advertisement objectify one or more participants? It is using the woman in a sexual manner. It almost makes you believe that if you drink this product you will be able to have this kind of woman.

Who is the target demographic? The target demographic, I would say would be between the ages of 21 and 40. I say this because men are very infactuated with good looking women and they also enjoy beer whether they're out socially or on Sundays while watching football. Men tend to be visually stimulated and the woman shown on this advertisement carries out what men like. Beer and Women.

Writer's Intro

My experiences with writing have been many. I developed a passion for writing at somewhat of an early age. I used to write short stories in grade, as well as in middle school when I had to. The last "big" writing assignment I had was when I had to write an autobiography of myself. This was great because writing about something you enjoy is always fun. It comes much easier than things you dont really know about or have to research (obviously). I have been enclosed in a small amount of writing topics, an I look forward to expanding my horizons and be able to write about things that I'm familar with as well as not so familar with. My strengths as a writer I would say would be the fact that I love to write about my family and could really go on and on about them because they are a big part of me and its an easy topic of course. I would say family, friends, religion, and race are all topics that I have great strength in as a writer. My weakness would have to be failure to show interest in any other topics. I tend to write about a lot of the same topics and I am wanting to break that chain, and broaden my horizons on other topics. I'm sure there are many other topics out there that I can right about and enjoy doing it.

Thank you for reading!
